CANCUN, QR — A man and two women have been charged with extortion against a Cancun business. Police say the extortion dates back to July 2023, when Zacharias “N”, Brenda Estefania “N” and Maria Guadalupe “N” demanded $5,000 a week.
“The incidents for which they are being investigated began to occur in July 2023, when several subjects went to the facility and threatened the owner to pay them 5,000 pesos a week for “floor rights.”
“According to the initial investigation, since then, Zacharias “N” personally went to collect the requested amount, which is the day he told the building owner that he should deposit the money from now on in 2023. It lasted until November 27th. The money was transferred to bank accounts in the names of Brenda Estefania “N” and Maria Guadalupe “N.”
“After obtaining arrest warrants for these three individuals, personnel from the Security and Civil Protection Agency arrested them in the city of Mérida, Yucatan,” authorities reported in a statement.
Police also reported that Zacharias “N”, aka “Skinny”, is being investigated for involvement in several murders that occurred in Cancun’s hotel zone.
