“We had to sift through a lot of fake James Bonds to find the real James Bond,” says director Matthew Bauer. The Australian filmmaker scoured Facebook for people who reflected the most diverse Bond group possible.
“There were articles saying that the next[movie]James Bond will be black, that James Bond will be a woman, that the next James Bond will be gay. So we decided to introduce a[real-life]black James Bond. That was important because they obviously tend to be different from most people’s image of James Bond.
