CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) – Health care for women in southeast Kansas will be greatly enhanced thanks to the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK)’s Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Fund.
The foundation awarded $59,205 in grants to 13 nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health of women in the region.
Among the notable winners, Women’s Giving Circle will distribute $51,705 to a variety of initiatives including:
Angels Among Us provides financial support to essential cancer patients. Cherokee County Health Department offers alternative menstrual products to improve accessibility. Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation purchases new fetal monitor system for Women’s Health triage room. Community Health Center Southeast Kansas acquires ultrasound equipment to train medical students in prenatal care. Fostering Connections provides care packages to young women who are aging out of nursing homes.
Additionally, Circle of Friends grants totaling $7,500 will support:
Catholic Charities Inc. provides furniture and financial education to women victims of domestic violence. Families and Children Together Inc. hosts “Mom’s Night Out” event for self-care and support. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides breastfeeding kits to mothers with infantsNICU.SE Kansas Women Helping Women funds dental services for women in need.
Established in 2007, the Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Foundation aims to improve the health and well-being of women by supporting education and quality of life opportunities. To date, the organization has awarded more than $500,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout Southeast Kansas.
