Shaw Industries Group is investing approximately $90 million in a Ringgold facility to expand domestic resilient flooring manufacturing, the company announced Thursday.
The Dalton-based company is expanding capacity at its Ringgold facility, which manufactures resilient flooring in stone-polymer composites and premium vinyl tiles. The investment will more than double the facility’s resilient flooring production capacity by 2026, the company said in a statement.
David Morgan, Shaw’s executive vice president of operations, said the investment will allow the company to add domestically manufactured product features and better serve its customers. He said in a statement that the factory expansion will ensure that the company can continue to provide the quality and service that its customers expect.

The plant employs about 400 workers, Lynn Kier, Shaw’s communications director, said in an email. Kia said no additional employees are expected with this investment.
The company says the investment will not only increase the factory’s production capacity, but also provide enhanced product specifications, including lower production volumes, new embossed textures, improved dimensional stability for loose-lay applications, and more product sizes. will be provided to customers.
The Ringgold plant is part of Shaw’s strategic growth and is helping to establish the company as a leader in high-performance resilient flooring, the statement said.
The company said Shaw has invested more than $160 million in the facility since 2019, not including new announcements.
In 2014, Shaw announced that it would exit the area rug business and strengthen its domestic presence in the luxury vinyl tile market.

The company renovated its Ringgold rug factory and reopened it as a new vinyl factory using the latest technology.
In 2020, Shaw announced plans to spend $20 million to expand production of premium vinyl tile flooring at its Ringgold facility.
Also in 2020, flooring company Engineered Floors announced plans to renovate its 1.2 million square foot factory in Dalton and begin producing luxury vinyl tile.
In addition, Huali Floors, a manufacturer of luxury vinyl tile, stone-plastic composite and wood-plastic composite flooring, announced that it will open a U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Murray County, Georgia in 2020, creating at least 315 jobs. did.
