Deschutes County will be mailing more than 114,500 property tax statements this week, and some property owners may notice an increase. This year, voters approved several local taxes that now impact the 2024-2025 tax bill. Additionally, the bond amount can change each year, which also affects the amount.
“The amount you pay depends on both the assessed value of the property and the tax rate for services such as the fire district, schools, city, etc.,” said Deschutes County Assessor Scott Langton. “If you live in Bend, you’re probably going to see an increase of about 8 percent this year.”
Changes that affect 2024-2025 taxes and other tax information will be listed on the statement, but property owners can also find the information online.
Property owners should expect to receive their tax statements by mail or email next week for individuals who have signed up to receive electronic statements. You can also view and compare your annual property tax statements at dial.deschutes.org. If you have not received your tax bill by Thursday, October 31st, please contact the Deschutes County Tax Collector’s Office at (541) 388-6540.
Property tax statements come in two colors: yellow and green. Generally, a yellow statement indicates that your lender has requested a statement. Make sure the lender listed on your statement is correct. It is the property owner’s responsibility to know if the lender will pay taxes. If you have any questions, please contact your lender. A green statement indicates the lender has not requested a statement and the property owner is responsible for paying the bill.
