The city may remove posters with permission to pass.
COVINGTON, Ky. – As election season heats up, the City of Covington is reminding candidates and their supporters not to place political signs on public land. This also applies to voting activities.
This includes parks, median strips, walking trails, tree wells, the trees themselves, utility poles, road signs, and pieces of grass between public sidewalks and roads.
City officials have the authority to remove political signs in these areas, just as they can remove signs for businesses, organizations, or causes that are placed without a trespass permit.
Other notes:
Signs are also prohibited along state-controlled rights-of-way, or state routes managed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Placing political signs on private property should only be done with the permission of the property owner. If such permission is not sought and granted, the property owner has the authority to remove the sign.
