The Trusted Choice® Relief Fund was established in 2007 by the nonprofit IIAA Educational Foundation of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA or Big I®). Since then, it has provided “millions of dollars in quick and critical financial relief to people in the Independent Agency Route, enabling them to recover quickly and continue serving their communities after a major disaster.”
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Helen and Milton, the foundation issued grants to applicants whose businesses, homes, automobiles, and other property suffered damage. Applicants are reportedly using the fund’s grants to secure accommodation, replace equipment, and purchase everyday necessities such as clothing, transportation, and recovery equipment.
Big I® President and CEO Charles Symington encouraged agents who need assistance now or in the future to apply for grants.
“The Trusted Choice Relief Fund is here to support independent insurance agents and their staff as they confront the challenges posed by large-scale disasters. We are grateful to Progressive for their partnership and continued support of the Fund. Symington said in a press release. “This is an important lifeline for our members, who often help others but find themselves in trouble when their workplaces and employees are affected. Your donations allow us to provide financial aid when and where it is needed.”
