TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a chance for area law officers to participate in a friendly game while supporting Crimestoppers of Northeast Mississippi.
The 20th annual “Blue Steel Challenge” was held at the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Center in Tupelo.
More than 20 police officers took part in the firearms challenge, which included a three-person obstacle course.
All proceeds from admission fees, sponsorships and other donations will be used to fund Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi to pay tipsters who provide information that leads to the arrest of criminal suspects throughout the region.
Commissioner Bill Allen says everyone needs to work together.
“We cover the largest geographic area of the Crime Stoppers groups in Mississippi, and although we don’t have a large population, we cover 10 counties and we have a large number of people working with us. We have a coordinator, Officer Harville is working with us as well, and we appreciate all the help from the sheriff and everyone from the county who joins us,” Allen said.
Prizes were awarded to the top three participants.
